What's your go-to project management tool?

Hi

At Budibase we've considered multiple project tools but we can't decide which one to go with. We only need to distribute tasks, track milestones, etc.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Cheers
Joe

Hi, I think that Gitlab is really your option. It can be configured for most cases and deeply integrated with source code, and ,what's more important, is pretty simple to use by developers and PMs.

I think that Jira, Redmine or Bugzilla has too many features and are expensive (or difficult to maintain and configure ) for most of not large projects

    My personal TOP:

    1. Jira - for large projects
    2. GitLab - for developer-focused teams
    3. Trello - for anything else

Cheers. We recently moved from Gitlab to Github. We're considering Github Projects / Zenhub. Have you used either?

I have not tried it. But seems that they are quite cool. Share your opinion after some usage :)

Gitlab because I like the integration with everything else they provide.

Lately I've just been using GitLab for everything! It has all the import stuff (features, kanban boards, milestones, burndown charts) and is stupid simple to use and works great. Previously have had success with Trello and monday.com.

I feel like I've used them all 😜 but I really like Asana and Airtable. Asana definitely has some built-in "milestone" type tracking, as well as a ton of plugin functionality for customization. Airtable has that capability all built-in but I feel like there's a steeper learning curve in getting the views the way you want them. Trello is just okay; it's mostly just kanban, which is great for milestones but can be a bit limiting if you want other views. Hope this helps! :)

.Thanks. Airtable is great but we just need simple tool out of the box so I think Asana is a strong contender alongside Zenhub.

Airtable is good for high-level project/product management (roadmaps, user stories etc..), Asana is for task management

          Have you tried Zenhub?

I'm working on a lightweight project management and collaboration tool that might work for you (one day): https://peraspera.io. It's not launched yet, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on it's suitability for you.

Have you tried Paymoapp.com yet? I have been using it for quite some time now as it helps me organize simple tasks. May be what you are looking for.

Project, tasks, invoice, clients are some of it's functions. It's also cost-effective and offers basic (free) plan as well as advanced or Enterprise plan which is paid.

Yet another one similar to this is InvoiceNinja.org

I have tried both. Not sure if my suggestions will be useful to your project goals.

We're working on http://codecks.io . A project management tool that is serious enough to handle complex projects, but also playful enough to be fun to use. I think it might be a good match for you.

Right now i'm only using GitHub. I tried a lot of different combinations. And it's my current pick. You can read details at this article: https://medium.com/quick-code/how-i-manage-my-projects-c17c78c796c4 and about documentation: https://hackernoon.com/how-i-set-up-a-startup-documentation-6af73287ee86

Currently using Zube.io. I like keeping everything in Github, but even simple projects often have multiple repos. I like that Zube (and others like Zenhub) merge all of the issues under one sane roof.

I also create a separate 'tasks' repo for the project to manage non-code related tasks like 'setup google apps' or 'write TOS'.

It's a boring answer, but I'm a sucker for good ol' Github Issues. I've got ~350 open issues (yikes) that are all well-tagged, and then I use Milestones to manage my weekly sprints.

Haha. We like your boring answer. We're considering Github Projects / Zenhub. Never used Milestones but will check it out.

I think Asana is the most robust option but I really like spending time in AirTable.

Thanks. Airtable is great but we just need simple tool out of the box so I think Asana is a strong contender alongside Zenhub.
