Struggling with sales? Talk to me live about your challenges!

Hey everyone!

I'm Mark Fershteyn, co-founder and CEO at Recapped.io.

I've been in B2B SaaS sales for nearly a decade, and do some sales consulting on the side for fun.

Recapped.io is a collaboration platform for sales teams and freelancers to use with their potential customers. Instead of relying on millions of email chains, you can manage all client communication in a single place, including a checklist of next steps.

I was lucky to be on the Indie Hackers podcast recently where we discussed these challenges and sales at large.

I'm partnering with IndieHackers to host an #office-hours session on Wednesday, June 12th at 5pm Eastern Time, and I would love to help.

Share your sales challenges and I'll pick 6 of you from the comments to email the details on how to attend.

    Hi Mark,

I run Pipefile (https://pipefile.com), a tool to streamline the collection of sensitive documents. Similar to Recapped, it can prevent long email chains filed with disparate, sensitive information and distracting back-and-forth.

I'd like to solidify my outbound sales process. I saw in another thread you mention that outbound sales sometimes require up to 10-12 touches before you'll receive a response. How do I prevent them from slowly degrading to "just checking in", "did you get a chance to look at the link?", etc. Do you have examples of for instance, the 7th touch, that are still engaging? Should I be sending more detailed marketing content by then even with no response? I've been sticking to short text based followups. What's your typical cadence for these long drawn out touch points?

Also, my link open rates are pretty low. I usually don't get a visit to my site until about the 3rd email. Any advice there? Often I'll just get an email back saying that they're not looking for another tool when they haven't even clicked through to the site. Should my followup touches have more meat to them (ie. marketing info vs pushes to visit the site)?

    Thanks,
    Steve

    Hi Mark,

I’m Andrei, the founder of https://www.tunnelhero.com , we have launched about a month and a half ago and we are tying to focus on getting small business clients as well as b2c clients, we have a few businesses using our service for securing their servers, since we offer dedicated static ip which they can whitelist, this is a niche offering for VPN providers and we are hoping to get more customers after a managed service like this.

We want to start cold emailing businesses about this but we have 0 experience with that, we are just trying to figure out the best way to go about it.

It would be really helpful to have a chat about this with some one that has experience in sales.

    Regards
    Andrei
